Discover the Cortina and Cortina L

Available with 1300cc OHV and 1600cc OHV engines.

The 2000cc OHC engines are offered exclusively in the 4-door L models.

For those in search of an attractive, dependable, and economical vehicle that prioritizes safety, your journey begins with the Cortina. With its wide-set wheels and extended wheelbase, it provides a safer, smoother, and quieter ride, along with superior handling. Generously sized windows enhance visibility, while a spacious boot accommodates ample luggage. The large fuel tank ensures effortless travel for long distances. Equipped with entirely independent braking systems front and back (we refer to it as Dual-line), including disc brakes at the front, and reversing lights ensure safety at the rear.

Experience ample space at all angles—top, bottom, front, back, and sides—with seats designed to embrace and support you. The 'Aeroflow' ventilation system helps maintain a comfortable temperature.

The Cortina comes with 2-speed windshield wipers, a lock for the front passenger door, a package tray, a safety steering column, childproof rear locks, exterior flush handles, and a rearview mirror that adjusts to reduce glare for safer nighttime driving.

The Cortina L enhances comfort with looped-pile carpeting, fully trimmed doors, and reclining seats. What’s more? Passenger grab handles, a cigar lighter, rubber bumper inserts, and a foot-operated wiper-washer control to ensure you have a clear view of the road ahead.

CORTINA XL

Available with 1600cc OHV and 2000cc OHC engines.

Elevating the experience, the Cortina XL takes the lead from the Cortina L. Here’s how to identify it: The Cortina XL features striking metal mouldings along the drip rail, side windows, wheel arches, and a distinctive rear panel applique. The exhaust showcases a gleaming metal finish, while the bumpers include rubber inserts designed to absorb minor impacts. The wheels boast a unique XL trip design (not compatible with 5 1/2 inch rims), and safety hazard warning flashers are installed for added security. The two-door model comes equipped with opening rear quarter windows.

Inside, the difference is palpable with extra seat padding and a unique trim style. The front seats offer hours of comfortable support and can be fully reclined to create a flat bed, with adjustments available for both forward and backward positioning, as well as the driver’s seat cushion height. The rear seats, designed in a bucket style, provide long-range comfort and include an armrest that conveniently folds away to accommodate up to three passengers.

The interior features looped pile carpeting, a cigar lighter, an electric clock, and a simulated wood facia. Included is a vanity mirror and the driver’s sun visor equipped with a pocket for easy access to documents. The glove box is both illuminated and lockable, and you'll find map pockets on both sides.

CORTINA GT

Available with 1600cc GT OHC and 2000cc OHC engines, performance takes center stage, but aesthetics matter as well. This is evident in the distinctive GT paint scheme, featuring a stylish coach line and a sleek black rear panel. The front grille, with its twin halogen headlights operating on high beam, boasts a unique look of its own. Special sports road wheels and radial ply tires are equipped to effortlessly handle the GT's swift and confident acceleration. The suspension has been tightened to enhance road stability and safety at higher speeds.

Inside, the GT exemplifies strong individuality; the high-back front rally seats are as striking as those found in a jetliner’s cockpit. However, they offer more than just good looks, providing superior comfort and a focus on safety. The center console allows for quick monitoring of fuel, oil pressure, and temperature, along with an ammeter, while other interior features include wiper-washer controls, two-speed wipers, opening rear quarter vents (available only on two-door saloons), an electric clock, day/night rearview mirror, a sporty steering wheel paired with a matching gearshift knob, a padded armrest between the front seats, a glove box, and luxurious looped pile carpet that extends wall to wall.

CORTINA GXL

(Only available in 4-door models)

Equipped with 1600CC GT OHC and 2000CC OHC engines.

Let’s begin with the striking choice between a black or parchment vinyl roof. Next, let's focus on the front, showcasing the bold black radiator grille adorned with four powerful halogen headlights. From the side view, the sporty road wheels and body side molding enhance the GXL’s sleek and elegant silhouette. Finally, a glance at the rear highlights the heated back window, the GXL's distinctive badging, and the rear panel applique.

Inside the GXL, comfort reigns supreme. With luxurious executive-suite cut pile carpeting and thoughtfully designed, plush body-molded, fully-reclining seats, every detail prioritizes relaxation. The doors and dashboard are elegantly finished with simulated wood trim, while the steering wheel features plush padding. You’ll find all the conveniences you expect—from a vanity mirror to a cigar lighter. There's even a light in the engine compartment for those late-night moments when you feel inspired to admire the engine.

2000E

**CORTINA CORTINA L AND CORTINA XL ESTATE CARS**

Offering a selection of 1300cc OHV engines (not available on XL models) and 1600cc OHV options, along with 2000cc OHC engines exclusive to the L and XL variants.

When it comes to spaciousness, the Cortina Estates truly stand out, providing generous room for your business trips, a week's worth of family groceries, or even luggage for a two-week holiday. And there’s still ample space left for the family! That’s the hallmark of the Cortina Estates.

Available in three distinct Estate models, each showcases the same extensive dimensions, varying only in the exterior and interior trim that mirror their saloon counterparts. Those familiar with estate cars know that rear seats can often be cramped in saloon versions, but this is not the case with the Cortina range. The rear seat offers full-sized comfort for everyone—after all, why should the luggage get all the room?

Another standout feature is the loading area behind the rear seat. The Cortina L is equipped with a durable rubber mat in this space, while the Cortina XL features a luxurious looped pile carpet.

As a five-seater, you will benefit from 33.2 cu. ft. of practical storage. When you fold down the rear seat to convert it into a two-seater, the space expands to an astonishing 63.8 cu. ft.—almost like having a small back room! For specifics, as a five-seater, the dimensions measure 37.9 inches in length and 44.0 inches in width, with the floor length extending an impressive 75.2 inches.

Distinctive from the front doors rearward, the South African Bakkie featured a locally crafted tailbox that preserved elements of the original design. Additionally, there were several 3-litre Perana bakkies available.

The box-frame chassis was equipped with leaf-sprung suspension, making it suitable for rugged terrains.

CRAYFORD CONVERTIBLE

In 1971, you had the option to pay an additional £650.00 to acquire this complete soft-top model. The later Crayford Sunshine Cortina preserved the side structure and windows of the two-door saloon, aimed at enhancing the stability that earlier Cortina ragtops struggled with. Its appeal was evidenced by the production of 400 units.

CORTINA SAVAGE

In the early 70s, the starting price for a new MK3 Savage was approximately £2000, with costs escalating based on additional features and enhancements. It is estimated that around 1000 Savages were manufactured, with only 50 to 100 being MK3 variants. Currently, there are five known survivors in the club, two of which are still roadworthy.

The Cortina Savage offered an optional Specialized Mouldings bonnet, color-matched to the vehicle, though it had a tendency to detach at high speeds. Interestingly, the "Uren" name replaced the Ford lettering on the model.
